Youth Mental Health First Aid training for adults supporting young people.

Learn how to provide evidence-based Mental Health First Aid to a young person.

Adolescence is a time for monumental developmental steps.

It's also when mental health problems first emerge.

This is where the Youth Mental Health First Aid training can help.

Youth Mental Health First Aid focuses on mental health literacy and early intervention, equipping any adult to support a young person who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. This course is fundamental for a parent, teacher, youth worker, employer, sports coaches... simply, any adult who supports a young person!

What the course covers

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an education course that teaches adults about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in young people, including crisis situations.

Topics covered include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and suicidal thoughts and behaviours.

You will learn how and where to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, what help research has shown to be effective and how to provide first aid in crisis situations.

“I feel more confident in my knowledge of mental illness and feel I have more confidence when looking for signs of trauma. I have learnt great terms to avoid stigma, learnt about stats, and feel comfortable in assisting people during crises."
